George William Dewey
(1848-1919)

George William Dewey was the third of the eleven children of James Dewey and his wife Eliza Norton of Waterbeach in Cambridgeshire, England.

When he was in his twenties, George began working at the coprolite works near Waterbeach. He becomes a Foreman there by the time of the 1891 census.

George married Annie Curtis in 1870, and the couple settled down in Waterbeach to raise a family of nine children, which includes their second son George who failed to survive his infancy.

George pre-deceased Annie by about 12 years.
