The Hale family of Bedfordshire
The Hale family appeared in the small parish of Knotting, Bedfordshire from at least 1621.
The family appear to stay there for at least three generations before William Hale, a tailor, married Elizabeth Truelove of Potton, Bedfordshire, and they settled there with their own family.
Thomas Hale married Bathsheba Jennell of Knotting in 1686, but she was buried just 10 months later. Thomas re-married to Elizabeth, most probably the daughter of a Samuel Fairy, who was born in 1656 in Dean, Bedfordshire - but this currently remains unconfirmed.
