Mary Hawkins

Mary Hawkins was the sixth of the eight known children of John Hawkins and his wife Jane (née Dunham) of Witcham, Cambridgeshire.
Mary's life was cut short when she was just 9 years and 9 months old. There is a note in the Witcham parish burial records that reads: "Burnt to death in the absence of her Mother. Buried by coroner's order".
It is unclear as to quite what happened, but it is possible that coroner records still exist for this period and location, or maybe documents or a newspaper relating to an inquest.
