Mary Jackson
(1759-1839)

Mary Jackson (later Mary Bailey) was the oldest of the ten children, and one of a set of triplets, of Thomas Jackson and his wife Mary Turner of Wicken in Cambridgeshire, England.

Mary married William Bailey at their native Wicken, and they settled down to have ten children between 1779 and 1800 - all of which were baptised at the parish church.

Just two months before the couple's marriage, a Mary Jackson takes illegitimate daughter, also Mary Jackson, to be baptised at the church. I suspect that she may have been the couple's first child, but this may only be left to speculation.

William pre-deceased his wife by 38 years, when their youngest daughter, Sophia was less than a year old. Sophia was buried just a few weeks after her father, leaving Mary to grieve for the loss of her husband and daughter whilst providing for their 9 surviving children.
