The Jeffery family
Tracing up my family tree, the connection to the Jeffery family is provided by my Gtx4 Grandmother, Elizabeth Jeffery of Ely, who was the second wife of my Gtx4 Grandfather, James Yarrow, a farmer of nearby Little Thetford.
Elizabeth was one of the seven children of Dean Jeffery and his first wife Mary Beasley of Market Street, Ely, Cambridgeshire but by the time she was about 6 years old, her mother died and two years later, her father had remarried to Eleanor Jeffery of Great Chesterford, Essex. The family grew once more as Dean and Eleanor had at least another seven children together.
Elizabeth's niece, Dorcas Pooley (daughter of her sister Dorcas), provides another link to the Cross family of Ely when she married my Gt. Gt. Gt Grandfather's brother, James Cross.
Dean Jeffery, a gardener, was one of the five children of William Jeffery and Mary Suffolk, also of Ely.
The earliest documented ancestor that i have found is the marriage of my Gt.x6 Grandparents - William Jeffery to Mary Suffolk at Ely, Holy Trinity Church in 1782.
