William Boulter
(1861-1949)

William Boulter was the fifth of the ten children of labourer Robert Boulter and his wife Mary Ann Moden of the fenland village of Wentworth, Cambridgeshire, England.

William married Frances Sophia Powers, a schoolmistress of Wentworth (1881-1911 at least) and they remained in Wentworth, living at the School House on Main Street. On the 1881 census, both William and Frances can be seen as unmarried, living just 4 houses apart in Wentworth.

The couple married on Boxing Day 1888, and they became parents to their one child, Frances, the following year.

Both William and Frances are mentioned in several editions of the Kelly's Directory. William as a Farmer, and Frances as a schoolmistress. The directory in 1900 mentions; 'National School (mixed), erected in 1873 for 50 children. Average attendence: 38. Mistress: Mrs. William Boulter'

William died in the January of 1949, and in April he was followed to the grave by his wife Frances. The National Probate Calendar says that he lived at 'Ivy Cottage, Wentworth' but died at 'School House'. He left his estate to his daughter.
