Hannah Goltrip
(1818-1895)

Hannah Goltrip was the youngest of the six children of John Goltrip and his wife Elizabeth Padget of Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England.

Two years before Hannah's birth, her father joined a group of people to riot in Ely and Littleport. He was accused of theft, taken to court, but found not guilty. If he had been found guilty, he may have been sentenced to prison, deportation, or even become one of the men who were hanged. As a result of any of these scenarios, Hannah might not have existed.

Hannah married William Barber, a shepherd of Littleport, and the couple are known to have had eleven children, but only four of them are known to have survived infancy.

On the 1861 census, Hannah's father, John, appears living with her and her family in Camel Road, Littleport, Cambridgeshire. Prior to this, her father and mother live with her and her own family during the 1841 Census at Black Lake Bridge in Littleport.
