The Grey family of Cambridgeshire

My Grey family first appears in Ely in Cambridgeshire, England in 1774 when my 6x Great Grandparents, labourer William Gray and his wife Sarah Graves married at St. Mary's Church.

William and Sarah went on to have at least 2 children, with my 5x Great Grandfather, William Gray being the youngest.

Like his father, William also worked as a labourer in Ely. By 1807, he mad married Elizabeth Cawthorne, and the couple had 6 children. Sadly their oldest and fourth child failed to thrive, and both died under the age of 12 months.

Their penultimate child was my 4x Great Grandmother, Mary Grey, who married John Freeman of nearby Prickwillow, Cambridgeshire, and the couple had ten children.
