Frances Howard
(1789-1863)
Frances Howard (later Frances Lythell or Fanny Lythell) was the youngest of at least two children of Thomas Howard and his wife Elizabeth Drage of Stretham, Cambridgeshire, England.
When Frances was about 26 years old, she married widower labourer John Lythell. In doing so, she became what appears to have been his third and final wife in 1815.
Whilst John already had become a father about 8 times before their marriage, Frances gave birth to at least five more children to add to the family.
When John died in November 1830, Frances swiftly took their young family, who were all between the ages of 13 and 3 years old, to be christened at Stretham's parish church. Life must have been tough for her, but she remained a widow, and by the time of the 1841 census she is noted as a Nurse, where she appears living with a William Richardson and his wife Susan, who had given birth just 4 days previously.
Frances remained in Stretham her entire life, and died in May 1863 - out-living John by 33 years.
