Elizabeth Howlett
(1856-1916)
Elizabeth Howlett (later Elizabeth Gilbert) was the only child of Thomas Howlett and his wife Caroline Clark of Mildenhall, Suffolk, England.
Elizabeth's father died aged 23 after a 9 month illness in 1858, leaving her young mother to look after Elizabeth alone until she re-married to Robert Coe (affectionately known thereafter as 'Dadda Bob') just over a year later.
Elizabeth married Littleport farmer, James Gilbert, and by the time of the 1881 Census, they were living at the Gilbert farm at Burnt Chimney Drove, Littleport, farming 55 acres and employing one man and one boy.
James and Elizabeth had nine children although two of these did not survive into adulthood.
Elizabeth pre-deceased her husband by just under four months, and her mother by about 11 months.
