Robert Newell
(1804-1853)

Robert Newell was one of the five known children of Francis Newell and his wife Mary Haylock of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England.

Robert married Ann Atkin of Ely, and they settled down to have eleven children. Sadly though, several of the children did not survive infancy, and within years of the last child's birth, Robert and his wife were dead too.

Out of a family of thirteen people, this left just four orphaned children - three daughters and one son. Robert was pre-deceased by at least four of his children, and he pre-deceased his wife Ann by 16 years.
