The Suffolk family of Cambridgeshire

My Suffolk family is a relatively new addition to my family tree, and ironically this connection takes place in Cambridgeshire, rather than its neighbouring county of Suffolk, England.

The connection, which reaches back to 8th March 1756, finds my maternal 7x Great Grandfather Walter Suffolk walk down the aisle, to join his bride Mary Bentley, who would become my 7x Great Grandmother, at Holy Trinity Church, Ely in the county of Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom.

So far, I can only locate one child for the couple - my 6x Great Grandmother Mary Suffolk, who was born the following year in Ely. She would eventually marry into the Jeffery family in 1782, 8 years after her father's death, and just months before her mother's.

At the time Walter's Banns of Marriage in 1756 his surname was mis-spelt as 'Suffolke'.
