Richard Tabraham
(1766-1854)
Richard Tabraham's parents are currently not known. His earliest appearance in records is in 1783, when he is baptised at Wicken, Cambridgeshire, England, aged 15. His parents are not named.
His next appearance in records is in 1795, when he married Sarah Cross of Ely. It is likely that she also appears in the Cross family tree featured on this site, but her full identity remains a mystery.
Richard and Sarah became parents 12 times between 1795 and 1820, seeing three of their children failing to survive into adulthood.
Richard worked as a labourer throughout the 1820s and into the 1840s, before hitting on hard times and becoming a pauper by the time of the 1851 census. At this point, he is a widower and living with his married daughter Rebecca Tabraham and her husband William Charles - a tailor and robe maker in Cambridge.
Richard died in Witchford three years later, in the presence of his granddaughter, Sarah Dewey. He out-lived three of his infant children, five grandchildren, one adult son, and his wife.
