Elizabeth Brightley
(1810-1886)
Elizabeth Brightley (later Elizabeth Gilbert) was the oldest of the six children of John Brightwell and his wife Elizabeth Brown of Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England.
Elizabeth married agricultural labourer William Gilbert in 1828, and the couple settled down to have twelve children.
Sadly, one failed to reach adulthood, with Elizabeth dying aged aged 12 years.
When Elizabeth was about 22, her mother died. Her father re-married after her mother's death to a Mary Hall - widow of Coveney, and they appear to have had one child Robert Hall Brightley.
