Thomas Dewey
(1743-1812)
Thomas Dewey is currently the earliest Dewey ancestor that I have located. Whilst his origins are currently unknown, he first appears in records when he marries Elizabeth Covell in 1768 at Witchford, Cambridgeshire, England.
The couple settled down to raise four children, but only three of them survived infancy.
Thomas pre-deceased Elizabeth in 1812, shortly after writing his Will. In it, he leaves provisions for his wife, three children, and a weekly allowance for his grandson William Dewey.
