Granger Harrison
(1765-1841)

Granger Harrison was the second of the nine children of William Harrison and his wife Margaret Granger of Little Downham, Cambridgeshire, England.

Granger married Ann Russell, and the couple are known to have become parents at least three times, although sadly their youngest son died when he was an infant.

Granger worked as a farmer in the rich agricultural fenland close to the villages of Pymoor and Little Downham, known as Dunkirk up until 1816 when he places the farm, consisting of '13 cows all with calf', '2 Cart Mares' and a filly, deadstock, standing crops, manure, and about 67 acres of land, and all items up for auction on 2nd February 1816. The auction notice, published in the Cambridge Chronicle, notes that he is to ‘quit his farm’.

Despite quitting his farm, he is noted on the 1832 Poll and Electoral Register book as still living in Downham.

It's not clear when Granger's wife died - there are two options for 1826 and 1828, but either way, she appears to have predeceased him by at least 12 years.
