William Harrison
(1741-18??)
William Harrison was the oldest of the six known children of Francis Harrison and his wife Ellen Aspland of Little Downham, Cambridgeshire, England.
He married Margaret Granger in 1763 when he was about 22 years old at St. Leonard's Church in his native Little Downham, and the couple soon settled down to being a family - with their oldest son William, baptised the following year.
Margaret's maiden name of Granger instigated a Harrison naming tradition, with several generations of Harrison male offspring being named Granger Harrison.
Little else is known for sure about William's life, apart from his children. When Margaret died in 1798, she was noted in the baptism register as 'wife of William', suggesting that he may still be alive (rather than 'widow of William'), but there's no clear evidence yet to confirm this.
