Susan Yarrow
(1821-1886)
Susan Yarrow was the tenth and final child of William Yarrow, and his wife Elizabeth Wright of Little Thetford, Cambridgeshire, England.
She is noted on several censuses as having been 'afflicted' or 'handicapped - has suffered fits since birth'. This could have been what we know as epilepsy or even asthma, but whatever her condition, she appears to have been receiving relief payments throughout her life. If true, these would have most likely have come from the parish, and records may exist that further explains her condition.
She appears to have lived mainly with her older brother John Yarrow and his second wife, who lived in Little Thetford and were the publican's of The Wheat Sheaf public house which has long since disappeared.
In later years, she lived with John's son (her nephew) James Yarrow and his family until her death in 1886.
Susan never married, but is incorrectly noted as "widow" on the 1881 Little Thetford census.
